So head over to the Danbury area in Stokes County for a fun-filled day!
For an awesome hike with some of the most breathtaking views, head to Hanging Rock State Park and the Hanging Rock Trail. The trail is 2.6-miles total out-and-back to the stunning namesake rock formation.
Start out at the visitors center parking lot and follow the marked trail signs for the Hanging Rock Trail. The trail starts paved, but then turns to gravel, dirt, and rock with a gradual elevation climb.
The last portion of the hike to the quartzite formation consists of rock and wood stairs. Note the signage that cautions visitors about injury and death due to the cliffs and drastic drops. So be very careful during your hike.
But once you arrive at the summit, you will be rewarded with gorgeous views of the park below and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
After your invigorating hike, head 3 miles down the road to downtown Danbury and The General Dan Tubing Co.
There they will provide you tubes and get you and your group loaded onto a shuttle and bring you to the river input. You will then spend the next few hours floating leisurely down the Dan River and end up back at the shop. The General Dan Tubing Co makes tubing easy and fun!
What are you waiting for? Grab your hiking shoes and swimsuit and set off for an awesome hike and float in North Carolina. Hanging Rock and the General Dan Tubing Co await you.
