First opened as a public garden over 20 years ago, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden encompasses 380 acres of rolling hills, meadows, woodlands, and lakefront property.

And during the holidays, it comes alive after dark with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights for its annual Holidays at the Garden event.

Beginning on the day after Thanksgiving through December 31, a nighttime pass lets visitors roam the property enjoying topiary displays and more, while also enjoying a bite to eat from a number of food trucks.

Or simply find a spot next to one of the roaring fires and roast marshmallows, while you sip on warm cider, hot cocoa, or a cold beverage.

Wander through the Christmas tree trail on the rolling Piedmont Prairie.
