This One Destination Has The Absolute Bluest Water In North Carolina
The Crystal Coast in North Carolina offers turquoise surf and white sand, making it a top beach destination.
In a state with over 200 miles of coastline, we're constantly searching for the best beach experience we can find in North Carolina. When one thinks 'beach' usually the Atlantic isn't associated with the crystal clear water found in the Caribbean. Yet, one area has the bluest water of all...it might just take a little effort to get there. The Crystal Coast section of North Carolina is home to turquoise surf and white sand. Here's more on what you can look forward to when visiting the place with the bluest water in North Carolina.
As the southernmost barrier island in the Cape Lookout National Seashore, Shackleford Banks is accessed by boat or ferry.
Aside from the clearest water in North Carolina, the island is also home to over 100 wild horses. These mesmerizing horses have learned to adapt to the land since their ancestors' arrival hundreds of years ago. It's advised to use caution around the horses, as they are not used to people, and to not pet or feed them. Either way, it's a majestic and beautiful sight to witness.
Back to the crystal clear water, though. At Shackleford Banks, you won't find beach houses, developments...well, even electricity or running water. It's a completely remote North Carolina oasis. Yet, having a beach to yourself...with amazing, crystal clear water is an experience that's worth going without creature comforts for a few hours.
If you love searching for shells by the seashore (try and say that out loud) Shackleford Banks is a popular destination for finding the most pristine shells on the coast.
Bring a cooler, an umbrella, some snacks, a nice chair, maybe even a fishing rod or float, and spend a day beside the clearest water you'll find in North Carolina! Here, paradise is an understatement.
