You’ll Never Forget A Visit To Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, A One-Of-A-Kind Farm Filled With Rescued Farm Animals In New York

When you hear "animal rescue," you may think of traditional pet rescue for homeless companion animals like dogs and cats. What you may not know is that there are also plenty of farm animal sanctuaries! These farms provide safe havens for animals that would otherwise be kept in often horrible conditions at industrial agriculture farms. One such sanctuary farm is Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit in High Falls, New York.

Located about 100 miles north of New York City, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is now in High Falls, though it started in Woodstock in 2004.

The non-profit was founded by Jenny Brown and Doug Abel, who noticed an abundance of help for dogs and cats in need, but very little available for farm animals.

Nearly 400 rescued animals call Woodstock home! The farm advocates for humane treatment and free range environments for all animals.

The sanctuary houses cows, rabbits, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, sheep, and even a llama! Each animal has a name and unique personality.

Every November, Woodstock Farm hosts ThanksLiving, a special feast for their resident turkeys. The turkeys get to enjoy pumpkin pie and other goodies.

Many of the animals come from farms or stockyards that are investigated for animal cruelty or neglect. Some are surrenders from the public.

Woodstock works with local law enforcement and animal control agencies to help ensure safety for animals that are seized during abuse investigations.

The sanctuary often takes in animals that are in rough shape. The facility has a small medical treatment center to guarantee that all residents will receive great care!

Some of the transformations are absolutely astounding! Animals often come in with various illnesses or stress-related problems that clear up with good diets, medication, and fresh air.

The farm offers tours where visitors can get up close and personal with the animals, many of whom love to be scratched and cuddled!
