Sure, there are trees practically everywhere in New Jersey, which means you can get an eyeful of the fall foliage just by stepping outside. But if you want to really experience the fall foliage, there is no better way than a trek in the forest. This awesome hike has plenty of great features and really lets you experience the most spectacular fall foliage.
The Wyanokie High Point via Highlands and Wyanokie Crest Trail is an amazing trail to try out in the fall.
Located in Norvin Green State Forest, the trail winds you through the prettiest woods, filled with changing leaves.
The loop trail is almost nine miles long with an elevation of 1,827 feet.
Sure, it's steep — but the views make all the huffing and puffing worth it.
Along the way, you'll see multiple waterfalls. That's one of our favorite features of the hike!
During the fall, the waterfall is framed by the prettiest colors.
This is the perfect place to break up this long, steep hike and relax.
It's such a pretty view!
And then, you get to the top where you can really admire the spectacular fall foliage.
There are gorgeous fall colors completely surrounding you.
And while the colors feel most striking at the top, you'll get to enjoy the fall foliage the whole way up while romping through the woods.
It's the perfect fall activity!
Norvin Green State Forest has other fantastic hikes, too, that are the best to try out during fall.
So, if this particular route doesn't quite work out for you, there are plenty more to choose from.
And good news: Dogs can use the trail, but they must be on a leash.
