Climb 25 Feet To The Top Of Pitcher Mountain Fire Tower In New Hampshire And You Can See All The Way To Vermont

The fresh air of the Granite State is just about all we need to clear our heads! While we love the toughies sometimes it's nice to see the views without all that effort. A summit view without sweat? We'll take it! One of our favorite family-friendly journeys is this one up to the top of Pitcher Mountain to see the views from the top of the fire tower.

To access the hike to the Pitcher Mountain Fire Tower you'll want to first head to (you guessed it!) Pitcher Mountain in Stoddard.

The hike itself is easy for folks with full mobility and it's great for kids with little legs. There are two routes to the top.

You can select to do a full loop which is about 0.7 miles or you can take the out-and-back route. Both lead to the beautiful 2,153-foot summit.

There's one white trail and one blazed blue. The white trail is wide and has a gradual grade upwards. This is a great option in the winter when things are a bit snowier.

The blue trail is less distance, but it's a bit more challenging due to steepness.

You don't need to put forth too much effort to get to the views, though! And that's what we love most. It's also what makes this great for kids who are just getting into the fun of hiking.

Depending on the weather, the views from the summit could include New Hampshire, Vermont and even Massachusetts. You'll almost always be able to see the trees and farmland surrounding the area as well as Mount Monadnock and the Green Mountains.

At the top of the summit you'll also find the Pitcher Mountain Fire Tower! This 25-footer was built out of wood back in 1915. Due to a forest fire in 1941, it was rebuilt using steel.

When fire danger is high, the tower is manned. It's not uncommon for a warden to invite visitors up to take a look around.

While the views from the fire tower are incredible, this hike is special because you can see the expansive sights without even reaching the tower.

And plan this hike for the later summer and you'll also be treated to the best of the areas wild blueberries!
