New Hampshire’s Winnie The Pooh Trail Is A Perfect Nature Walk For Kids

Springtime is when color and character return to New Hampshire's forests. The leaves start budding out, the wildflowers emerge from the ground, and it's still too early for the bugs! If you love to be outside as much as I do, it's one of the best times of the year. The town of Barrington in southeastern New Hampshire has an extensive network of trails on conserved land. One in particular, however, takes inspiration from a classic children's book character.

Goodwill Conservation Area in Barrington is not only a place for conserved natural habitat, it is also home to something even more charming.

Within the forest is the Winnie The Pooh Trail, which combines the classic A.A. Milne storybook characters with outdoor adventure.

The Winnie The Pooh Trail is a perfect spring outing for kids (and adults!) who may have felt cooped up at home during the winter season.

The trail, which is less than a mile long, visits a dozen themed sites related to the beloved children's books.

Just as Pooh and Piglet wandered through and explored the Hundred Acre Forest, you can put yourself right into the story by doing the same.

Some familiarity with the Winnie The Pooh characters and their stories is helpful when visiting the trail, but not necessary. There are plenty of signs!

With each stop and around each corner along the Winnie The Pooh Trail, you'll never know what surprise you will find next!

Both adults as well as the wee ones will surely enjoy this unique nature walk for kids. Spring is almost here so get ready to get out there! For more information and to download a trail map, visit the Barrington Conservation Commission.

With winter coming to a close, it's time to get back outside into the woods, and we've compiled lots of great ideas for hiking trails to visit, from beginner to advanced.
