Summer in New Hampshire is one of our favorite times of year. There are tons of trails to explore and forest floors to sleep on, but mostly we just love the feeling of being surrounded by warm breezes and natural scenery. We always have a long list of activities for when the temperatures rise, and high on our list is visiting the best waterfall swimming hole in New Hampshire!
Of all the places to enjoy a hot summer day in New Hampshire, Lower Falls in Albany might just be our favorite. It's easy to find right off of the Kancamague Highway.
Lower Fall is part of a larger recreational site that has picnic areas and places to enjoy the forest.
In fact, this is a great place to visit even without a dip. The falls are formed by the Swift River, which travels almost 26 miles through the White Mountains.
Lower Fall is formed where the river drops over granite rocks. This has been going on for so long the rocks are now smooth, making for the perfect water slide.
In the spring and after a few days of solid rain, you can expect the water to rush making for an even bigger adventure.
If you're not the adventurous type, not to worry! There's plenty of summer fun to be had even if you choose to watch the water from the rocks.
Our only advice to you is to be ready for a fun day at the best waterfall swimming hole in New Hampshire. And, of course, be sure to arrive early or you'll risk there being no parking.
