You might hear a lot of people trying to tell you that the summer is coming to a close. To those people we say, no thank you! It's still summer and the sun is out and the breeze is still nice and warm. So, as long as it's summer we'll be hitting the trails, bagging those peaks, swimming at the beach and enjoying swimming holes. These natural swimming holes in particular. Get out there and cool off while the sun is still shining!
1. Profile Falls, Bristol
The refreshing pool is fed by 25-foot waterfall which keeps the water clear and clean. Plus, it's always nice and cool which is great on a warm summer day. It's easy to visit, too. There's a parking lot, bathrooms, and picnic tables. Learn more here .
2. Lower Falls, Conway
Just outside Conway, take yourself on a trip down the Kanc to find this gorgeous spot. It's one of those easy-to-access pools because it has a parking lots, places to picnic and even bathrooms. The best part? The waterfall feeding this pool has carved a natural waterslide that's arguably more fun that the kind you'd find at a water park. You can learn more about the waterslide. here .
3. Lower Ammonoosuc Falls, Carroll
Just off of Lower Falls Road in Carroll, this waterfall leads to a large, wide-open pool perfect for swimming. If you prefer the kind of swimming hole dips that allow you to float and be relaxed, this one is for you.
4. Sculptured Rocks Natural Area, Groton
It took thousands of years of water flowing to create this incredible gorge, but it'll take you just moments to realize that it's your new favorite place in the state. The water is cold, but don't let that stop you! Soon the actual air will be cold and you'll be longing for the days that a cool, refreshing dip was necessary.
5. Diana's Baths, North Conway
This is another swimming hole that also offers the chance to enjoy a waterfall. The water is chilly, but the fun of letting the water fall over your head is worth it. Best of all you can add it to a fun trip to North Conway and finish with dinner and ice cream.
6. Humphrey's Ledge, North Conway
For something a little more unique, check out Humphrey's Ledge. It's less visited than some of the other spots on the Saco River and it might be more fun. It's a little more than a half mile from Diana's Baths, which means you can do them both in a day.
7. Emerald Pool, Pinkham's Grant
If you've been enjoying New Hampshire summers for a long time, there's a good chance you've already been to this spot. It's one of the most loved in the state. You can find it just off the Baldface-Loop Trail on Baldface Mountain, which means you'll have to take a short hike to find it. All the better for working up a sweat!
8. Cascade Park, Woodstock
You'll be headed to Cascade Park in Woodstock to visit the Pemigewasset River swimming hole. While you can dip and wade here, we love the rocks that offer a natural waterslide!
9. Franconia Falls, Lincoln
Another wonderful chance to slide your way to a refreshing dip, Franconia Falls is even more fun than Lower Falls. At least in our opinion. You can easily spend the entire day here.
