One of the best parts about living in Nevada is uncovering new hidden gems to explore. As you begin your search, you'll want to check out this unique waterfall hike in Nevada — it will take you to not one, but two awesome little waterfalls. Just because part of our state is in the desert doesn't mean we don't have beautiful cascades. This little-known hike will treat you to some outstanding panoramic views. You'll be led to a couple of hidden waterfalls near me that are best for enjoying on a hot day. Take a look.
Located right near the state line that divides Nevada and California is a little park called Van Sickle Bi-State Park. Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this park lets you explore some gorgeous hidden gems around Lake Tahoe. Few people even know this place exists!
This park is unique in a couple of different ways. It's one of the few parks in the country that is located in two different states at once. It's also one of Nevada's newest parks (it opened up in 2011). The park is full of scenic hiking trails, but you'll definitely want to start with the Van Sickle Rim Trail Connector.
The trail is quite lengthy, as it circles the entirety of the park's lake. You don't need to complete the entire trek to get a good taste of all the beauty this trail has to offer. After just two miles, you'll come across plenty of great scenery, including two charming little waterfalls.
The trail has a slight gain in elevation over the course of the trail, but nothing that is overly strenuous. You might work up a little bit of a sweat, but the views of Tahoe in the distance make all the effort worth your while.
The hike becomes more and more serene the higher you climb up the mountain. At about the 1.5-mile mark, you'll come across a couple of enchanting waterfalls. The first one is actually a small stream that spills over some rocks, but it's wonderful to look at regardless!
The next waterfall is a little bit bigger, but you'll also find it hidden away by foliage. Flowing with a steady stream of ice-cold water, it's an absolutely beautiful sight that's just off the side of the trail.
The waterfall only adds to the serene atmosphere of this trail. You'll be surrounded by the sound of the rushing water: this hike is pure tranquility!
Once you get to the top of the hill, you'll really be able to take in the outstanding views. Here, you can sit on a rock and rest while taking in deep breaths of the fresh mountain air. Enjoy the peace for a bit before heading back down to civilization.
The entrance to Van Sickle Bi-State Park is located in South Lake Tahoe in California. The trailhead to the Rim Trail Connector is in the parking lot on Lakeview Parkway, just behind Heavenly Village.
Have you ever completed this waterfall hike in Nevada before? What an awesome way to spend the day!
