You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Experienced This One Incredible Park in Nevada
Cave Lake State Park is a lovely gem of a park located in central Eastern Nevada. It's not as widely known as some of the state's other parks but its visitors each year are enthusiastic about its charms.
Cave Lake State Park's main feature is the 32-acre reservoir.
There are many outdoor recreational opportunities available at the park. Fishing is a very popular one. The lake is filled with rainbow and brown trout. Ice fishing is also popular in the winter months.
There are several hiking trails with stunning lake views. The Overlook trail, a 3-1/2 mile hike, peeks out over the lake.
There are two campgrounds in the park that come with grills, picnic tables, flush toilets, showers and parking. One campground has a view of the lake and is open May to October. The other is close by and open all year long.
The park is within the Humboldt National forest, with an elevation of 7,300 feet. This provides seasonal weather, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters.
It's a lovely place to have a spring or summer picnic. There are two picnic areas on the lake with grills and picnic tables.
If you enjoy Nevada wildlife, the park is rich with local flora and fauna. Animals common to the area are elk, mule deer, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, hawks, eagles, rattlesnakes, and several species of duck and songbirds. The forests are full of pinyons and junipers.
