The Carson Valley is truly one of the most beautiful places in Nevada. Nestled right along the western border of the state—between the Carson Range and the Pinenut Mountains—this valley is always a breathtaking sight. However, some would argue that it's most stunning in winter since that's when dozens of bald eagles descend upon the valley's snow-covered landscapes. Seeing the bald eagles temporarily make their home in the valley is a sight that every wildlife lover should see, and you can do just that when you attend the annual Eagles & Agriculture event. This beloved festival is a celebration of the gorgeous Carson Valley and the stunning eagles that visit it every year. It's coming up soon, so start making plans now!
Every year, dozens of beautiful bald eagles make an appearance in the Carson Valley. It's a sight that is highly anticipated by wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers, and the event is celebrated with the annual Eagles & Agriculture 4-day festival.
For its 18th year, the Eagles & Agriculture event will take place January 23-26, 2020 in Northern Nevada's Carson Valley. Hundreds of visitors come out for this exciting festival every year, which includes birding tours, classes, and other exciting outdoorsy activities.
Although the appearance of Carson Valley's eagles is by far the highlight of the annual festival, Eagles & Agriculture is a celebration of so much more than that. In fact, attending the festival is a great way to learn about the Carson Valley's rich agricultural history that dates all the way back to the mid-1800s.
It's the valley's ranching culture and the promise of food that attracts the eagles here in the first place. As a result, people can get closer than ever to seeing these magnificent American icons in action. A schedule of tours and workshops allows festival-goers the chance to observe these stunning birds with some of the area's most experienced birders.
All of this year's Eagles & Agriculture events will take place or depart from the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. An opening reception and photography exhibit will kick off the festival on Thursday, leading into a weekend filled with events like a Wetlands Birding Tour, Raptor Highway & Byway Tour, Falconers' Dinner, and a Photography Workshop.
Reservations are required to attend these events and space is limited, so you'll want to sign up for the workshops and tours that catch your eye right away. The festival will also feature a photography contest in which two talented photographers will walk away with a $125 prize!
The annual Eagles & Agriculture festival is a great reason to visit the breathtaking Carson Valley this winter—if you even needed a reason, that is! Seeing a bald eagle with your own eyes is an unparalleled experience, so definitely be sure to check it off your list at this year's event.
