Here Are the 6 Best Places To Go Sled Riding In Nevada This Winter

Nevada offers several great spots for snow tubing and sledding, providing fun winter activities for all ages.

When snow flies in Nevada, it means there will be lots of great opportunities for outdoor winter fun! Snow sledding and tubing are great options for people who may not enjoy skiing and snowboarding but want to feel the thrill of going downhill. Here are several places in known to be good choices for snow tubing and sledding in Nevada.

1. Galena Creek Regional Park, Reno

This beautiful park is located near Reno. Sledding and tubing can be done although there are few "big" hills and it can get a bit crowded on the weekends. It's also a great spot to play in the snow, hike, and cross-country ski. If you are looking for a nice spot to go sledding in Reno, the park is located at 18250 Mount Rose Highway.

2. Tahoe Meadows, Reno/Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Meadows is also known as the start of the Tahoe Rim Trail. It's a terrific spot for sledding and tubing, as well as other snow fun. Certain spots are for snowmobile use only so be sure to avoid those when sledding. To get there, take State Route 431 AKA the Mount Rose Highway going south of Reno. You can find lots of free parking along the road where the meadows are.

3. Spooner Summit, Incline Village

This area is located at the corner of Highway 50 and Highway 28 in Incline Village. It's a large park area that is not maintained or supervised. Tubing and sledding are very popular here and parking can be found along the road.

4. Lee Canyon/Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort

The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort in Lee Canyon is located off State Route 156 on 6725 Lee Canyon Road. This small resort has an area for tubing (as well as skiing and snowboarding). If you drive along Lee Canyon Road you may also see some hilly spots that locals make use of for tubing and sledding.

5. Cave Lake State Park, Ely

Cave Lake State Park in Ely is an excellent spot for all sorts of winter activities. Sledding and tubing are popular, as well as ice skating on the lake, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The park is located 15 miles southeast of Ely off the US 50/6/93 and Success Summit Road.

6. Elko Snobowl Ski and Bike Park, Elko

The Snobowl has options for sledding and tubing fun, as well as for skiers and snowshoers. The park is a non-profit run by volunteers. You can find the Elko Snobowl on North 5th Street at 1992 Snowbowl Road, about 15 minutes out of Elko proper.
