You're never far from a spectacular river view no matter where you are in Nebraska. At this restaurant right on the Nebraska/South Dakota border, though, you'll be treated to an especially wonderful vista.
Murdo's Aten Resort is right on the Missouri River in Crofton. Look straight across the river from here and you'll be looking into Yankton, South Dakota.
Murdo's is one of those places that you don't tend to just stumble upon - it's out of the way enough that you won't see a ton of drop-in traffic.
Which is good, because you want to split this view with as few people as possible, right?
The scenic river is just steps away from the restaurant. If you go on a nice day when it's possible to sit outside, you'll be treated to one of the finest views in the state.
The restaurant flooded pretty severely a few years back, but it has since been cleaned up and restored, and the river view was recently enhanced with a few improvements to the grounds. If you haven't been here for a while, you might be pleasantly surprised!
One might argue that it's even more beautiful at night than it is in the daylight. But that depends on how much you enjoy watching those twinkly lights on the river...
...because the daytime view is full of its own spectacular charm. You can even see Gavin's Point Dam from here!
And let's not forget the main reason you're there: the food! Their specialty is walleye, but you'll find everything on the menu from Phillies to burgers to steaks and lighter options like salads and wraps.
If you're feeling a bit adventurous, go for the chef's special of the day. It's always delicious!
Reviewers rave about the fresh fries and the stellar service.
The food really is terrific, but the obvious star of the show here is the Mighty Mo, and she's in stellar form up here on Nebraska's north coast.
