There are lots of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors in Montana – and Grotto Falls Trail is one of them. A short, easy trek with a big payoff, it boasts views of cliffs and mountains and leads straight to a waterfall!

Located in Bozeman, Grotto Falls Trail is a scenic out-and-back trail with a waterfall finish.

Rated as “easy” and just 2.4 miles (round-trip), it’s perfect for everyone from novice hikers to experienced trekkers seeking a quick adventure.

You can admire the cascade from afar or head down to its base for some close-up views.

While May-October is the most popular hiking season, the trail is open year-round. Keep in mind that snow and ice can make the trek trickier, so come prepared if you visit during the winter months. Your extra effort will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the frozen falls.

Grotto Falls marks the end of the Grotto Falls Trail, but if you want, you can continue your adventure by following Trail 427, which begins at Grotto Falls.
