You’ll Fall In Love With The Tiny Waterfall Hiding Along This Breathtaking Montana Trail
Glacier National Park is one of the most notable natural areas in Montana. Visitors come from across the country (and the globe!) to see the towering peaks and gorgeous forests that can be enjoyed during a visit. Of course, there are also plenty of hiking trails. Ranging from challenging to simple, enjoying a hike in the park is one of the best ways to get to know the state. While there are plenty to choose from, one of our favorites is this waterfall hiking trail in Montana. It's just under six miles long and offers everything from forest to river to various small waterfalls.
The Upper McDonald Creek Trail offers just over 5.5 miles of beautiful hiking in Glacier National Park.
This waterfall hiking trail in Montana offers a few different opportunities to see falls along Upper McDonald Creek, but it's also a great way to feel fresh air and get some great views.
The route is out-and-back, which means you'll get to the end of the trail, turn around, and come back the same way you went out.
With minimal elevation gain, this is a great trail for hikers who are comfortable being outside but don't want something terribly strenuous. I find this to be great for friends who have been hiking for a while but haven't tackled anything too long or high.
In addition to the falls you'll find along the way, there are lots of fun features.
And, depending on the season, you might find a mighty river!
No matter the season, the water here is as clear as can be making it even more beautiful.
Make sure to enjoy the view across from McDonald Creek Overlook. Then, turn around and head back. The trail should take about two hours depending on your pace and how long you choose to take in the views along the way.
The Upper McDonald Creek Trail can be accessed throughout the year, but visitors say it's best from April through October. Be sure you have all the right gear before heading out, regardless of the weather. Conditions can change quickly in the great outdoors. And we know everything is better with a furry friend but you'll need to leave the dogs at home for this journey.
