Take A Scenic Hike On This Shaded, Kid-Friendly Trail In Missouri To Stay Cool

Quail Ridge Park in Missouri offers a kid-friendly, accessible trail with scenic views and family-friendly amenities.

Sometimes getting the kids outdoors is downright difficult. After all, not a whole lot can compete with video games and social media these days. Hiking's the perfect way to introduce the kiddos to the splendor - like crossing paths with local wildlife - of spending time outdoors. This kid-friendly trail in Missouri, for example, offers an abundance of shade, beautiful scenery, and it's easy for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

With its playground, disc golf course, and picnic shelters, Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville provides a picturesque backdrop for a day of family-friendly fun.

When you visit, make sure you carve out time to follow the Quail Ridge Park Loop Trail, an easy trail that tallies 2.9 miles.

The kid-friendly Missouri trail usually takes around an hour to complete, and you'll find an abundance of shade along the path.

However, the entire path isn't shaded, so be sure to lather on the sunscreen and bring plenty of water. It can still get quite warm, especially on hot days.

What the path is is paved, which makes it doable for those in a wheelchair and with a stroller. There are some slight grades, so keep that in mind before setting off.

You'll find benches to sit along the path if you need a break or just want to drink in the scenery.

Keep an eye out for local wildlife, too. You never know with whom you'll cross paths - a deer or a tortoise, maybe?

The trail is dog-friendly (there's a dog park at the park, too). Keep your pooch leashed, and wear tick repellant. Hikers report a healthy tick population throughout the park.

This is one of the those trails you can and will definitely want to follow in each season. It can get crowded at times, so be prepared to run into others.
