Spend a day among nature at Parkville Nature Sanctuary in Parkville, home to the Old Kate & Waterfall Trail.

Rated easy for hikers of all ages and skills, the .08-mile waterfall trail promises plenty of picturesque scenery, including...

Lush green and towering trees. Stroll along a wooden boardwalk, which offers sweeping views of a forested area and a meandering stream.

Listen for the sound of gushing water that will alert you that you're getting closer to the small waterfall that's particularly powerful after a rainstorm.

In fact, you'll see the waterfall at its most beautiful after a rainfall. (Just be aware that the trail is usually also a bit muddy and messy after it has rained.)

Spend plenty of time admiring the gushing waterfall before continuing to explore the sanctuary. If you get tired, you can also stop and sit down on a bench for a breather.

Before you set off on Old Kate Trail, however, keep in mind that dogs are not permitted in the sanctuary, including along the hiking trails.

Embark on this short but sweet hike along Old Kate Trail at Parkville Nature Sanctuary, open daily from sunrise to sunset.
