Located in the small town of St. James, the spectacular Maramec Spring Park has been maintained by the James Foundation since 1938.
Inside the park, one of the most visited features is Maramec Spring. This is Missouri's 5th largest spring in the state.
Its vivid blue waters are surrounded by a walking path. Visitors can get an up-close view, although swimming and fishing is not prohibited in the spring. .
The trails around the spring are also picture perfect. Take a nice and easy hike around the park for great views of the Missouri Ozark.
Maramec Spring Park is a great place for photographers! There are so many neat buildings, ruins, and natural features to capture.
One of the most beautiful features is the spring overflow. This man made waterfall is always a stunning sight.
Best of all, the park is a fisherman's paradise! The Missouri Department of Conservation stocks the fishing stream daily.
It's also one of the most popular parks for anglers. The streams here are so clear that you can see the trout before you catch it!
Prior to becoming this beautiful park, the property was purchased in 1826 by Thomas James. Mr. James opened the Maramec Iron Works and sent his son William to manage the facility until it closed in 1876. When William passed away in 1912 the property was willed to his granddaughter Lucy Wortham James.
