The Incredible Farm in Missouri Where You Can Pick Buckets of Berries
IronGate Berry Farm has some of the best strawberries around.

One of my favorite childhood memories is exploring the woods with my friends—when we stayed outside until the lights came on or our parents called us. That and picking berries in Missouri. If we squished the raspberries, our fingers would turn red. That was probably just as much fun as the sweetness of that first bite. That rush of nostalgia is just part of what makes going berry picking as an adult so much fun.
Among all the Missouri farms to visit, IronGate Berries in Eldridge is the place to go. The farm has an incredible U-pick experience, where the whole family can enjoy a summer day outdoors. It's the perfect place to pick delicious blueberries and blackberries, and reminisce about days gone by... while making new memories. Here's what to know about the Missouri berry farm before you visit.
What Makes Iron Gate Berries So Unique
Just about 20 minutes north of Lebanon and nestled in the small town of Eldridge, IronGate Berry Farm is all about creating memories and picking the freshest fruits in season. The story of IronGate Berries began in 2018, when Mark and Kim Newell decided to turn their 20 acres into a U-pick berry farm, planting strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.
Now, this charming Missouri farm has grown to fields of fresh fruits—around 400 blueberry plants, 375 blackberry plants, and more than 17,000 strawberry plants.
Beyond U-pick, Iron Gate Berries also contributes to local farmers' markets, providing fresh, pre-picked produce for the community at the highest quality and reasonable price. You can visit any time of year, but it's a Missouri summer activity you definitely won't want to miss.
What to Expect When You Visit
Spending time at IronGate Berry Farm will feel like the ultimate Missouri day trip. Before heading out, make sure you have a few things: sunscreen, a hat, and hand wipes. Closed-toed shoes are also encouraged.
Once you arrive, you'll be given a container to go out and pick berries, and you'll pay for them by the pound. Explore the endless rows of vibrant berry bushes and enjoy the sight and smell of sweet berries wafting through the air. It's one of the greatest ways to relax and enjoy nature.
After picking your treasures, visit the farm's produce stand to check out the pre-picked products and other homemade goods. Then, enjoy your packed lunch and water in the shade.
To transport your fruit home safely, the farmers recommend bringing a cooler to keep in your car. Both U-pick and pre-picked berries are kept fresh this way.
Lastly, although this is a very family-friendly farm, all children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the fields.
The Best Time to Visit for Ripe Berries
The best time to go to IronGate Berry Farm will depend on what type of berries you're hoping to pick. Strawberry season typically begins in March and April and can last until May, depending on weather and growing conditions. For blueberries and blackberries, visit later in the summer, around June and July, to get the ripest, juiciest pick.
Other types of produce have different harvesting months, so stay updated with the farm's Facebook page to get more details. It'll also announce U-pick days and hours each week. Plus, farmers share updates on how the berries are looking.
