How’s your bucket list looking? Have you checked anything off of it lately? Added anything to it? If it’s been a while since you’ve reviewed your bucket list, you might want to dust it off and decide what you’re going to do next. You’ll probably even want to add this Missouri cave tour, a fun activity for the whole family.
Carve out at least half of a day for your visit to and tour of Bluff Dwellers Cave, and its other attractions, in Noel.
Dating back more than 350 million years, Bluff Dwellers Cave wasn’t discovered until by Arthur Browning until 1925. (When you tour the cave, you’ll get to see Browning’s footsteps, which have been preserved in the lake.)
Kick off your adventure with a one-hour guided tour of the historic cave. As you learn more about the cave, keep an eye out for the different animals that live there, including slithering salamanders.
Some of the highlights of the cave include “natural musical chimes,” stalagmites, stalactites, and a rimstone dam.
The fun doesn’t stop when the tour ends. Explore the Browning Museum, brimming with fascinating artifacts and rocks.
Head outdoors, on those lovely Missouri days, for a bit of gem mining, too. You never know what you’ll find – maybe an arrowhead or two – when you sift through the sand.
Finally, don’t forget to stop by the gift shop, where you can pick up souvenirs or such unique items as handmade soaps, rocks and minerals, and activities designed just for kiddos.
A few things to note before you make your way to Bluff Dwellers Cave. Due to the pandemic, tours will temporarily be limited to 10 guests. You must also wear some sort of face covering – a mask or a bandanna, for example.
Join a guided tour of Bluff Dwellers Cave, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
