The Bluff Lake Boardwalk In Mississippi Leads To Incredibly Scenic Views

Bluff Lake Boardwalk offers stunning views and wildlife in a short, accessible trek suitable for all ages.

Great views can be found all over the Magnolia State – you just have to know where to look. One place you should definitely be looking is the Bluff Lake Boardwalk. Located within a national wildlife refuge, the boardwalk offers amazing views of scenery, greenery, and wildlife. Even better, the trek is super short, making it suitable for all ages.

Bluff Lake Boardwalk is part of the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, which spans 48,000 acres in Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston Counties.

Because it’s located within a NWR, the boardwalk boasts peaceful seclusion, while remaining easy to access. (What more could you ask for?!)

Short and sweet, the boardwalk, which is 1/4 mile, meanders through a cypress island at the edge of Bluff Lake.

A great spot for some effortless exploration, the wooded pathway makes the trek easily doable for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Stunning scenery lines the boardwalk. Several benches also line the boardwalk, so you can stop and soak in the sights and sounds of the refuge.

But the real treat is at the end of the boardwalk, where you’ll find a roofed overlook on Bluff Lake.

Built-in binocular telescopes makes it easy to take in the surrounding lake views.

The overlook offers more than great waterfront vistas, though. It’s also known to be an excellent spot for bird-watching year-round.

Make sure to have a camera handy. Egrets, songbirds, and several elusive birds can often be spotted from the overlook.
