5 Hikes With the Best Sunset Views in Mississippi

These sunset views in Mississippi are the perfect places to wind down after a long day.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a sucker for a good sunset view. It's literally the first thing I do when I arrive in a new town or when I'm traveling. There's just something so calming and relaxing about watching the sunset. Reflecting on the day, planning for tomorrow, and just overall being present in the moment. If you found yourself nodding while reading this, we should be friends. The first thing we would do in our new found friendship is checking out one of these hikes with the best sunset views in Mississippi.

1. Front Beach Walking Path

  • Location: Ocean Springs, Mississippi
  • Length: 2.1 miles

Is there anything better than a sunset beach walk? No, no, there is not. Kick off your shoes and take a stroll through the sand on the Front Beach Walking Path in Ocean Springs. The sunset bouncing off the water is mesmerizing.

2. Brandon Quarry Trails

  • Location: Brandon, Mississippi
  • Length: 3.5 miles

For a longer sunset stroll, consider heading over to the Brandon Quarry Trails. It’s a fairly popular area, so you might not get the trail to yourself, but the sunset views will make you forget that anyone else is around.

3. Bonita Lakes Trail

  • Location: Meridian, Mississippi
  • Length: 7.6 miles

The Bonita Lakes Trail takes you on a wonderful waterfront adventure around the stunning Bonita Reservoir. I’m a sucker for a waterfront sunset, and this one truly doesn’t disappoint! Of course, you don’t have to tackle the full 7.5 miles in one go. It is a loop, so you’ll return back to your starting point, but feel free to find a westward-facing spot to enjoy the sunset.

4. Red Bluff

  • Location: Foxworth, Mississippi
  • Length: 0.9 miles

Red Bluff is easily one of the most unique landscapes in all of Mississippi. Nicknamed the “Grand Canyon of Mississippi,” the red and orange colors of the clay here really get amplified at sunset.

Pro tip: bring some water bottles and maybe an extra pair of shoes so you don’t track the clay back into your car.

5. Puskus Lake Recreation Area Trail

  • Location: Oxford, Mississippi
  • Length: 0.7 miles

Kick back and pull up a patch of grass and enjoy a sunset along the Puskus Lake near Oxford. The trail itself is less than a mile, and there’s plenty of parking. The 96-acre lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish so you might even be inspired to bring your tackle box.
