If you've spent any time in Minnesota, you likely know that Minnesota is a land of waterfalls. There's at least one in almost every region, and they are some of the top-suggested landmarks in the state. When out-of-towners come to visit, they more often than not have at least one Minnestoa waterfall on their to-do list. North Shore spots, like Gooseberry Falls, are among the most popular. This is easy to visit down a short, paved trail. But there's an even easier to access waterfall - one with a much quicker drive from the airport. Next time you're looking for an easy-to-visit waterfall, look no further than the one hiding in plain sight at Minnehaha Regional Park: Minnehaha Falls.
Minnehaha Regional Park is a park in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s one of the most popular parks in the city thanks to its beautiful landscape. The park covers 193 acres and includes stunning scenery, art, trails, and more.
Because this park is right in Minneapolis, it is easy to access for most Minnesotans. Of the state’s 5.6 million people, the majority live in the Twin Cities metro area. That means most Minnesotans can easily take a day trip to this lovely park!
Trails lead throughout the park. There are plenty of paved areas where wheelchairs and strollers can easily move. There are also benches and grassy areas along the paths where visitors can rest and watch the busy park’s activities.
Nestled among the park's beautiful natural scenery, you'll also find other attractions, including art. One popular sculpture is Hiawatha and Minentonka, depicting part of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem that gave Minnehaha its name.
If you're up for it, you can venture into other areas. Steep paths and stairs lead down to Minnehaha Creek. You'll find picturesque views of the water, the surrounding woods, and lovely stone bridges!
You'll also get a view of 53-foot-tall Minnehaha Falls as it tumbles over the rugged cliff. It's a spectacular sight in every season of the year!
But you don't have to venture down below to get amazing views of the waterfall! Minnehaha Falls is easy to spot from above. Head to the edge of the viewing platform for incredible views of the waterfall from above! There is a reason why this urban waterfall is so popular: it is not only beautiful, but it's easy to access at Minnehaha Regional Park!
