This Strange Phenomenon in Michigan Will Leave You Baffled
A mysterious 360-foot long crack appeared in the UP near Menominee in 2010, accompanied by a booming sound.
Venture to the UP just north of Menominee and you'll come across a most unusual phenomenon. It's a 360-foot long crack, about six and a half feet deep, and two feet across. It first appeared in 2010 when the ground shook and caused a massive booming sound.
People at first thought it was an earthquake, but that is not the case at all.

A Facebook group, known as Unexplained Crack in Upper Michigan, has been trying to make sense of the strange natural occurrence.
It turns out that researchers from Michigan Technical University have studied the phenomenon and have determined that what caused this mysterious crack was in fact a geological pop-up, occurring when underground pressure on limestone was released and thus allowed the separation in the ground.
What's perhaps most fascinating is that there have been reports of these mysterious booms elsewhere, as far away as Wisconsin.
While scientists seem to have some understanding of the cause of this unearthly occurrence, we're sure those of you who have seen this in real life may have some theories of your own.
