You’re Going To Love These Predictions About Michigan’s Mild Upcoming Winter

August is still upon us with all its sunshine and heat, but the good folks at the Farmer's Almanac are already looking ahead to the upcoming colder months. Weather forecasts and projections have just been released for winter 2017-18, and we think many Michiganders will be be happy about the outlook for our beloved Great Lakes State.

If you’re not a fan of freezing cold temperatures, you might be glad to hear that this year’s winter is predicted to be milder than usual throughout Michigan.

The Farmer’s Almanac predicts that temperatures will average out at higher-than-normal levels, but — of course — there will still be pockets of freezing weather.

The coldest temps will arrive during early to mid-December, early January, and mid-February. Keep these dates in mind if you’re scheduling a tropical getaway!

Temperatures are just part of the picture. Those of us who hate shoveling are in luck: both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas are also expected receive snowfall levels that are slightly below normal this winter.

If you’re a snowy weather enthusiast, though, never fear: you can still plan to see snowfall during all of December, early January, and early February. Don’t cancel your ski trip just yet!

It’s impossible to guarantee any of these predictions, but it’s safe to say that Michiganders can expect a milder-than-usual winter overall. Perhaps we’ll only need five layers of clothing instead of six this year!
