Sandy Neck Nature Trail is a breathtaking hike located in Barnstable on Cape Cod. It’s the perfect way to combine a day at the beach with a little bit of exercise.

At 7.5 miles long, this gorgeous loop trail will whisk down and along the Cape’s famed Sandy Neck waterfront nature preserve.

The trail offers beautiful views of shimmering beach grass, soft sand, and glittering waves. You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a postcard.

The path itself features packed sand, dirt, and looser sand near the water. You’ll want to wear comfy shoes (not flimsy flip-flops) if you plan on walking the entire trail.

Dogs are welcome on the path, though birds and small critters do frequent the area. Bring plenty of water for yourself and any furry friends.

Be sure to check the tide forecast before heading out! At extreme high tides, parts of the path can be slightly submerged. Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit! You won’t be able to resist taking a dip.

There’s lots of parking available at the trailhead, including some free gravel spots for people using the hiking trail rather than heading straight to the beach.
