The Easy Trail That Might As Well Be The Nature Capital Of Massachusetts
The state of Massachusetts is filled with hiking trails for all to enjoy. There are intense hikes like the Grace A. Robson Sanctuary Trail and the Ice Glen Trail, and then there are quick, easy paths that will take you on a relaxing walk through nature. These types of peaceful hikes are some of my favorites. One of these short but sweet trails is located in the little town of Hadley.
The Fort River Birding and Nature Trail is an easy one-mile loop trail that is perfect for nature lovers of all ages.
Part of the trail is gravel and the rest is made up of a wooden boardwalk, making it stroller and wheelchair accessible.
The short scenic path will take you past meadows full of wildflowers, wooded areas, and two ponds.
Little ones will be amazed by all of the Interesting creatures that they encounter along the way. Be on the lookout for turtles, frogs, rabbits, and various species of birds.
Make the journey into a game by taking part in a nature scavenger hunt.
There is also a gorgeous pollinator garden along the trail. Bring your binoculars to get the best views of caterpillars, bees, hummingbirds, and monarch butterflies.
While you are walking, be sure to look out for this twisted tree!
The interpretive signs are one of my favorite things about this trail.
They tell you all about the life cycle of animals, their habitats, and how to spot them.
Another thing that makes this path so special are the many beautiful spots where you can stop and relax along the way.
