Massachusetts is packed with lush hideaways and hidden state parks, but some are just a bit more magical than others. Willard Brook State Park is one of those rare enchanting spots. You’ll never want to leave this beautiful babbling brook forest in Massachusetts.
This forest is a hiker's dream.
When you’re looking for a fairytale experience close to home, look no further than this hidden state park in Massachusetts. Willard Brook State Forest is located near Townsend and includes just under 2,600 acres of lush greenery. The forest is known for its charming brook, which looks like something from a storybook.
You can't miss the gorgeous bridge.
The best way to admire the scenery is to hunt down the park’s gorgeous wooden covered bridge. It spans the forest’s babbling brook and is the perfect spot to sit and relax or take a few photos. This rustic wooden bridge is rarely crowded, so you’ll almost certainly have a few moments to yourself to soak in the tranquility of nature.
You can swim and camp here as well.
The woods themselves are perfectly New England. Leafy trees provide shade for the park’s well-marked hiking trails and there are plenty of boulders for kids to climb and play on. You can swim in Damon Pond and even camp overnight, though it’s worth calling ahead to make sure sites are available during the busier summer season.
Parking and camping prices are very reasonable.
Amenities like picnic tables and grills are available, and bathrooms can be found in the campsites. All pets much be on leashes. Overnight camping costs $10 per night for visitors or $8 per night for Massachusetts residents. Parking costs $5, but visiting is free if you bike in. If you fall in love with the park, residents can buy a season pass for $35.
