When warm weather arrives in Maryland after a long winter, it isn't long before colorful blooms are in full force. There is one particular spot in Maryland that is well-known, but not many know that, during spring, it's packed with an abundance of wildflowers. Let's take a look at one of our favorite places to find wildflowers in Maryland.
The C & O Canal spans 184.5 miles from Georgetown to Cumberland. While you can visit year-round, spring is especially gorgeous.
Wildflowers boldly bloom along the towpath, starting spring off on the right foot.
There are dozens of varieties of wildflowers all along the path, as well as fuzzy moths, bumble bees, and honey bees eagerly looking for a tasty treat.
And beautiful butterflies who take advantage of the abundance of nectar.
Virginia Bluebells are a particularly pretty sight.
And this picturesque path was captured along the canal trail near MM144.
Feast your eyes on this annual natural wonder. You may even want to bring your camera to remember the splendor.
