Enjoy A Secluded Stroll On A Magical Path Leading To The Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is undoubtedly Maryland's most treasured natural attraction. Even for those who live in western Maryland, a trip to the bay is always well worth the journey. And, if you're looking for a special way to experience the water, we've found the perfect hiking destination: Turkey Point Lighthouse Trail. Located at the tip of Elk Neck State Park, this relatively easy trail will lead you to one of the best water views in the entire state.

Fresh air, sunshine, water views -- does it get any better than that? All of this and more waits for you along the Turkey Point Lighthouse Trail.

To get here, you'll want to visit Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County.

The park features six beautiful hiking trails, but we're partial to the Turkey Point Lighthouse Trail as it features this stunning vista as well as a historic attraction: the Turkey Point Lighthouse.

Standing at 35 feet tall, the lighthouse was originally structured in 1833.

The trail is an out-and-back 1.9 miles, making it the perfect length for a day trip.

Although the trail is relatively short, you won't want to rush; stay alert for birdwatching. Hawks and eagles are common here.

Plus, you'll want to spend plenty of time on the water. You can practically feel the breeze just by looking at this picture!

And just wait until you see the sunset views from the splendid waterfront trail. You'll be planning your return trip in no time!
