1. Muddy Creek Falls
Maryland's highest free-falling waterfall can be found at Swallow Falls State Park. It's always a wondrous sight to see, but being surrounded by icicles and snow takes this spot to a whole other level. See for yourself!
2. Assateague Island
This barrier island known for its wild horses and white sand beaches is like another world during wintertime. There are fewer crowds, less noise, and just a whole lot of serenity among the snowy sand.
3. Kilgore Falls
Head to Rocks State Park to find this natural wonder that's a popular swimming spot during summertime. During winter, parts of the falls and its surrounding pool becomes frozen over, and it looks like it's straight out of a story book.
4. Chesapeake Bay
When temperatures drop below freezing, some of the water bordering the bay becomes frozen over with chunks of ice. It's an amazing sight to see and doesn't last long. Check it out at just the right time and you're in for a winter wonderland experience like you've never seen before.
5. Cascade Falls
Located at Patapsco Valley State Park, Cascade Falls can be found along a short trail surrounded by boulders. The trickling water forms intricate icicles during colder months, making for a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the scenery.
