The journey begins at Alberton Rocks Trailhead Parking, which leads into the Daniels area of Patapsco Valley State Park.
Just plug it into your GPS and be on the lookout for this area on the side of the road for parking.
Enter this area for a 2.7 out-and-back trail that's full of historic sights.
Rocky formations will be on your right, while the scenic Patapsco River runs along your left.
As you get further down the path, you'll begin to spot remnants of dilapidated buildings. These are what's left of a town known as Daniels.
This is one of the most fascinating abandoned places in Maryland.
The town dates back to 1810 when a local textile mill drew many families to the area. In the 1960s, the mill closed and the community was forced to leave, sadly, while churches, cars, and more were left behind. Imagine being forced out of your home!
The most intact structure is this church, which many travel to photograph...
...and there are still other arches, and things to find as long as you keep your eyes peeled.
