Eating your way through a place is one of the best ways to get a true sense of things. What's more indicative of a state's personality than the way they eat? And, in the same way, we can get a better understanding for a place when we enjoy the small, local spots that have been around for ages. This restaurant offers all of that and more. And by "more," we mean views!
There's nothing like a trip to Maine's coastal towns, but we especially love those in the mid-coast region. Camden is lovely and it's also the home of a very special little restaurant.
Welcome to Marriner's Restaurant in Camden. This little spot is casual, but the views are something extra-special. Before we get there, let's explore the food!
Marriner's is open for breakfast and lunch and it's hard to choose just which one we like best. The dishes are huge and things like burgers, sandwiches and lobster rolls are must-haves.
But, we're pretty enamored by their breakfasts which are almost bigger than their lunch dishes!
Things like pancakes, omelets and piles of potatoes will keep you full all day.
And there's something special about the simple dining room. This is truly a local spot, filled with chatter and laughter.
In fact, it's so simple that you might not ever expect what waits outside.
The restaurant has sat above these falls since the 1940s. And over all those decades the series of waterfalls have roared.
The view goes beyond towards the harbor, making it even more special.
And on a sunny day there's nowhere that feels more Maine.
Marriners Restaurant is open Wednesday through Monday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. They're closed on Tuesday. If you have questions you can reach them on 207-236-4949.
