If You’re Looking For Good News, You’ll Find It In The Warm Fall Forecast For Maine In 2020

Maine is expected to have a warmer fall this year, extending the outdoor activities season.

With the arrival of September, it's hard to avoid the thought that summer is on its way out. If you're anything like us, this is sad news. Summer in Maine is truly special and feeling these chilly mornings is a reminder that seasons change and the beach days might become fewer and further between. But, there's still some good news! It looks like this fall in Maine will be warmer than previous years. And while the implications of that are actually a bit worrisome, for now, we'll take these days and enjoy them! Here's the forecast. And click here to read more!

As most Mainers can attest to, this summer was one of the warmest on record. While we did suffer through drought conditions, it was nice to enjoy a lot of warm, outdoor days. Average temperatures were high across the country.

And, while we wake up to chillier temps in the mornings we might have more warm weather on the horizon.

The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a warmer than average fall. The higher temps should last from now through the official start of all on September 22, to November.

And, with this warmer fall will come some changes to frost.

Most of Maine experiences their first frost in mid-September and the coast sees theirs in early to mid-October.

But with warming temps, these frost dates could happen much later.

While a warmer fall should have everyone a bit worried, we are enjoying the temperatures. But, don't let this lull you into a false sense of t-shirt and shorts security!

The National Weather Service is also tracking La Nina. This cooling of equatorial waters can lead to more hurricanes in the Atlantic. While Maine doesn't need to worry about that too much we should remember that this can also lead to cold, snowy and windy winters.

So, enjoy this while you can! And, perhaps more importantly, remember to care for the environment in a way that helps combat rising temperatures which leads to these wacky weather developments.

What season do you love most here in Maine? Fall is pretty great and you can't help but love watching the changing leaves, but winter offers lots of cozy vibes, too. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
