In Maine, those looking for complete solitude will certainly find it around more corners than they might expect. With a huge swath of the state covered in forest with very little built-up infrastructure, it's not hard to claim a bit of space to enjoy with only your thoughts. But, one of the OTHER best things about the state is that we've got some pretty incredible food! A common misconception is that you need to make your way to one of the larger cities to enjoy it, but that's (thankfully!) just not true. For a lovely dining experience, make your way to Weld to enjoy some of the best Maine nature and food you'll find!
Kawanhee Inn is a beautiful place to spend the weekend, but it's secretly got one of the best restaurants in Maine!
Located on the shores of Webb Lake in Western Maine, the setting is one of the most beautiful in the state.
And its off-the-beaten-path location makes it more special than the more easily accessed big names on the water in places like Portland and Camden.
The dining room overlooks the lake, which means digging into a perfect meal with the beauty of nature surrounding you.
And, we DO mean digging in!
With special like pan seared Rainbow Trout with lemon parsley brown butter and a bacon wild mushroom garnish, you'll be wishing you had room for more.
And, we do recommend saving room for dessert.
Because the only thing done better than the mains are the sweet delicacies that come afterwards!
There's both a main restaurant and a fun pub t enjoy at Kawanhee Inn & Restaurant.
And we recommend making time for both once they're open for the season.
They're located at 12 Annes Way in Weld / 207-585-2000.
Check their website for opening times and their seasonal menu.
Did you see this article about another of Maine's most secluded restaurants? They only take postcards for reservations and (trust us!) it's worth the stamp!
