Deep in the northern woods of Maine, a collection of abandoned locomotives is quietly rusting away. Check out this footage by YouTube user "Dylan Magaster," and read on for a preview of this incredible, secret cache of vintage trains.
The boneyard is buried in the Allagash Wilderness, and is only accessible by a series of bumpy, dirt roads and winding forest paths.
As the explorer approaches the site of the trains, old railroad tracks and train equipment start to appear in the underbrush.
The old locomotives are massive. It's easy to imagine how impressive they were in their prime.
Most of the locomotives are over 100 years old. They were abandoned during the Great Depression.
