You’re Guaranteed To Love A Trip To This Epic Cheese Farm in Maine

Appleton Creamery in Maine offers a variety of goat cheeses and engaging workshops for cheese enthusiasts.

If you're making a sandwich without cheese, can it really be considered a sandwich? And, what about pasta? Are you short-changing yourself when you leave off the creamy, cheesy goodness? There's little doubt that cheese is what makes meals worth enjoying and this farm in Maine understands that even more than we do. When people think of Maine, many think of lobster, maple syrup and blueberries, but we're here to remind you that we do cheese pretty darn well, too!

Appleton Creamery is a small farm in (you guessed it!) Appleton, Maine.

This provides enough milk for cheesemaking from February until December.

Cheese is made for most of the year and the product is uniform based on the consistent diet fed to the goats.

The many types of goat cheeses are made right on the farm from milking to final product.

Once created, curds are dried.

Then, the cheese waits for the next phase of its life!

But, what makes Appleton Creamery truly wonderful are the many fun events and workshops you can take part in throughout the year!

Just a few examples include a day-long "Day at the Dairy" allowing participants to learn to make cow cheese.

The cost for this is $75 and includes a small lunch.

You can also take part in a two-day workshop in basic home cheese making.

The cost for this epic class is $300 for one person (or $575 for a couple) and includes all the tools you'll need!

There are also a variety of unique classes from hard-cheese making to "Italian Fun" which includes a lesson in Ricotta and Mozzarella.

And, if you're VERY serious about cheese, Appleton Creamery even offers a yearly Apprentice progam.

You can purchase Appleton Creamery cheeses through a few different CSA programs.

Or, head over to their farm stand which they aim to have open throughout the year.

Alternatively, you can mark "Open Creamery Day" on your calendar and get the full experience!

No matter when you visit or how you buy, you can't really go wrong with some most delicious goat cheese!
