At first glance, you might think Sebago Lake's beach is in a tropical place. But, while it might be hard to believe, this beauty is actually located in Maine. And, it’s not too far off the beaten path.

Sebago Lake seems like it just goes on and on! That's because it covers 45 miles!

Sebago Lake is the second largest in the state, which makes it unsurprising that it’s also got one of the largest lakeside beaches to enjoy. The lake, located northwest of Portland, is comprised of more than 28,000 acres.

The state park first opened in 1938 and quickly became one of the most popular spots for swimming in Maine! Sebago Lake sees thousands of visitors a year.

Its massive size means that Sebago Lake in Maine is surrounded by 6 different towns - Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish and Windham. At a depth of 316 feet, the Sebago is also one of the state’s deepest inland bodies of water.

Sebago Lake State Park is where you’ll find the best access to swimming. It might be surprising, though, when you first enter. The woods here are thick, making it hard to believe that a lake with clear blue water awaits you!

Folks can opt to take a fantastic and relaxing boat tour right on the lake! Sebago Boat Tours is the way to go for cruises, or if you prefer, Sebago Trails Paddling Company offers kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals. Either way, it's sure to be a fun time out on this gorgeous lake.

The size of Lake Sebago makes for a number of beaches. Some of the most popular are Songo River Beach (which is located inside the state park), Tassel Top Beach in Raymond, Nason’s Beach and the Town of Sebago Public Beach in Sebago.

You’ll need to try them all to find the one you like best. Especially if you prefer quiet. Some are much more popular with families making them a bit more noisy and crowded.

There are just so many fun activities to do at Sebago Lake! From boating and hiking to camping and fishing, this Maine spot has it all.

But, regardless of which you choose you’ll find a wide sandy Sebago beach perfect for spending time with family and friends.

What we love most about lakes is the warmer temperatures. You’ll probably find it easier to swim here than in the cold ocean waters.

And, if you get tired of being on the beach there are a variety of trails to take throughout the park.

To truly maximize your time at the beach, consider booking one of the park’s camping spots. This is something that’s virtually impossible to do at the coastal beaches.

Once you've enjoyed your time in the sun, watch it go down over the most beautiful lake you've ever seen. After a trip to Sebago Lake beaches you'll have a hard time justifying the coast again.
