Jimmie Davis State Park is a nature lover’s paradise.

It features nearly 300 acres of beautiful landscape nestled along a peninsula on Caney Lake.

The 5,000-square-foot reservoir was formed in the mid-1990s after damming up Caney Creek.

The park was initially named Caney Creek State Park. It was renamed in 2003 to honor former governor Jimmie Davis.

The lake might just be one of the most scenic in the state.

It's a well-known hotspot for fishing.

Many of the largest bass ever caught in Louisiana were caught right here in this lake. There's a boat launch for anyone with a boat, but you can always just find a little secluded spot along the shore and drop a line. You might just catch the next record-breaking bass!

And of course, the splash pad that overlooks the water.

Bring your beach gear and find a patch of sand to soak up some sun.

The swimming area is roped off, so you won't have to worry about boats passing by.
