You’ll Hear Live Chimpanzees And Feel Like An Explorer As You Hike The Monkey Trail In Louisiana

The Monkey Trail in Louisiana offers a unique hiking and biking experience with lush greenery, water views, and the sounds of nearby chimpanzees.

There’s a lot to love about Louisiana, and our hiking trails are just the tip of the iceberg. Sure, we may not have those intense hikes with crazy elevation and mountain vista views, but what our trails lack in elevation, they make up for in lush greenery and water views. The Monkey Trail is one of the best trails in Louisiana for hikers and bikers alike, so grab your boots (or bike) and let’s hit the trails, shall we?

You’ll find the Monkey Trail within the Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, just outside of Shreveport.

This park is a great option for anyone looking to get outside and enjoy some sunshine with a little adventure.

The loop trail is roughly 10 miles and is great for outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Bikers will enjoy the many climbs, twists, and turns, while those on foot will have a moderate challenge traversing the bumpy terrain.

Along the way, you’ll be met with some lovely scenery.

No matter what time of year you tackle the trail, you’re in for a treat.

You'll have it all: water views, shady spots from the pines above, and all the adventure you could ask for.

But the real adventure along the trail is one you’ll hear, but never see.

The trail is located nearby Chimp Haven, a rescue center for chimpanzees. The facility is home to nearly 300 chimps, and you’ll be able to hear them along your walk.

Certainly a change from the typical songbirds that make up the soundtrack to most of our nature trails, this trail is unique in more ways than one, that's for sure.
