The Kincaid Reservoir is a 2,600-acre reservoir near Alexandria, Louisiana. It is within the Kisatchie National Forest and is easily accessible from Highway 28. People come from all over the state to enjoy this reservoir, and it's known as an excellent place for swimming, boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Visitors enjoy picnicking, camping, and wildlife viewing along its shores, too.

There are lots of great places to hike in this area, but if you're looking for an all-day challenge, you might take on the Kincaid Reservoir Shoreline Trail. This trail is actually a system of many shorter, connected trails, but if you hike the whole thing out-and-back, it's almost 12 miles in length.

However, other than its length and the potential heat and humidity, this trail is not all that difficult. It's time consuming - it'll take you about five hours to walk from one end to the other and then back to where you parked - but you'll only experience about 1000 feet of elevation gain along the way.
