The Gorgeous, Little-Known Lake Is One Of The Most Underrated Fishing Spots In Louisiana

Louisiana certainly lives up to its “Sportsman’s Paradise” slogan. From Caney Lake all the way down to Grand Isle, there are plenty of world-class fishing spots to enjoy. If you’re looking to step outside of the mainstream, check out Kincaid Lake. This fishing lake in Louisiana tends to get overshadowed by the nearby Toledo Bend Reservoir but it’s equally beautiful. Let’s check it out:

Kincaid Lake is a 2,600-acre reservoir just outside of Alexandria.

The Kincaid Recreation Area is the best way to enjoy the lake.

Here, you'll find a beautiful stretch of beach, public restrooms, camping, and a boat launch.

It's only $5 per person to use the area.

While there are plenty of land-based activities, getting in the water is just as fun.

It's a popular area for water sports like waterskiing, tubing, etc. It's also a great lake to do a little fishing.

Fishing Kincaid Lake is infamously challenging, so be prepared to work for it! Largemouth bass is what everyone is after, but you could find yourself reeling in bluegill, chain pickerel, or even a spotted bass or two.

In 2023, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries installed artificial reefs throughout the lake. They are designed to be angler-friendly (less snags) and provide ample cover for fish. You can see where the artificial reefs were installed before you head out.

If you haven't fished this lake before, grab your tackle box and give it a try!

Tunk's Cypress Inn is conveniently located on the north side of the lake. Swing by this waterfront restaurant afterward and treat yourself to a nice cold beverage and delicious seafood.
