Louisiana’s waterways are truly a beautiful sight. From the bayous to the swamps, Louisiana is filled with amazing natural wonders just waiting to be explored. Tucked away in the southeast side of the state lies an amazing hidden gem that every Louisianan should see at least once.

You’ll find the Barataria Preserve over in Marrero, Louisiana.

This massive preserve includes 23,000 acres of bayous, swamps, marshes, and forests that are simply breathtaking.

There are several boardwalk trails that allow you to go into the depths of these waterways, offering a rare glimpse of Louisiana’s wetlands.

Don’t forget your camera - the views are out of this world!

All of the trails are under two miles long, so you can mix and match depending on your schedule.

Kids will love it out here, too!

Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to see alligators, birds, turtles, and more.

In addition to the wildlife that calls the area home, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful wildflowers, trees, and canopies of Spanish moss.
