The Biggest And Brightest Full Moon Of The Year Will Be Visible In Kentucky In Early April

The biggest and brightest full moon of the year, known as the Super "Pink" Moon, will be visible in Kentucky on April 7th.

In a world of uncertainty, you can always count on the sun rising and setting and that the moon will rise in the evening. The sight of the moon rising means you've conquered another day and there's new hope in the prospect of tomorrow. Perhaps better timed than ever before, the biggest and brightest full moon of the year will be visible in our skies on the evening of April 7th. This full moon in Kentucky is known as a Super "Pink" Moon and you'll want to stay up and hopefully catch a glimpse of it.

The sight of a full moon in Kentucky is always a beautiful image, but there are certain times of the year when it is bigger and brighter than ever.

A "supermoon," as it has come to be called, takes place when a full moon is also at its closest point to the Earth.

This spring, a special Super "Pink" Moon will rise into the sky on the evening of April 7th.

If you're thinking you are going to see a moon in a lovely shade of pink, unfortunately, that is not the case.

The name of this moon actually comes from the popular springtime flower shown above, creeping phlox. These beautiful blooms tend to pop up in early spring, around the same time as this full moon.

The moon may not be pink, but it will begin to rise into the sky as a golden yellow.

We can hope for a clear night on the evening of April 7th, but a few clouds would also add a bit of moodiness to the experience.

As the moon rises, it will become white and grey but should appear larger and brighter than normal.

This supermoon will be only 221,772 miles from Earth, which is actually only a few hundred miles further than the incredible supermoon from November of 2016. That moon was the closest supermoon in recent history.

That means that this pink supermoon will not only be the biggest and brightest of the year but of the past several years.

So be on the lookout on April 7th and look to the skies around 10:35 p.m. At that time, the full moon in Kentucky will hopefully be the bright and beautiful sight we could all use right now.

A full moon in Kentucky isn't exactly a rare sighting, but when it's the biggest and brightest we'll see this year, it is worth trying to view from your backyard.
