Celebrate Spring Like a Local at This Lovely Kansas Park

Lucas Park is a stunning hidden gem in Kansas located right on beautiful Wilson Lake, offering up some of the best spring delights in the state.

Hidden away right up alongside one of the best lakes in Kansas is Lucas Park Recreation Area, an amazing little slice of paradise that's sure to soothe your soul every time you make a trip out. It's stunningly beautiful and 100 percent worthy of a drive - from wherever you might be located in the Sunflower State - to experience excellent hiking, camping, and outdoor opportunities galore. It proves that Kansas is one of the most beautiful places in the world... or at least I think so. I think you'll agree upon visiting this park, especially in the springtime.

Located on the northern side of Wilson Lake, this awesome escape from real life offers 92 amazing campsites, so if you're like me and end up not wanting to leave, well, you don't have to - not for 14 days, anyway. Eighteen of these campsites have electricity and water, and 52 have just electricity. Here, you'll find a day-use shelter, a shower building, a clean dump station, playgrounds, a boat ramp, a swim beach, numerous picnic areas, and vault toilets, as well. As far as campgrounds go, it's quite luxurious.

Spring is my favorite time to go camping in Kansas. It's an amazing time of year, with agreeable temperatures (even at night), the Milky Way overhead, and all the natural wonders you could ever hope for. While you're camping at Lucas Park, you'll want to stargaze, too - it's utterly incredible and will blow your mind. The geology of the region is also quite intriguing, offering a fascinating foreground for all the photos you'll want to take.

Wilson Lake is 66 feet at its deepest point. It's sparkling, blue, and absolutely beautiful. It's definitely the centerpiece of the park, and it's what draws in droves of Kansans each spring. Lucas Park is an amazing way to get right up front and center regarding all the fun things to do, see, and experience in our state.

North-Central Kansas is amazingly beautiful, and Lucas Park (as well as Wilson Lake) illustrates this perfectly. Whether you're here for a day, the weekend, a week, or even longer, you're in for an amazing time. In the spring, be sure to come prepared for rain (bring your umbrella), and later in the season, be ready for an abundance of wildflowers.
