Walk Alongside A Lake At This Easy Trail In Kansas
There's something so magical about a waterfront trail. Walking along the shoreline, whether it's the ocean, a river, or a babbling brook, is an experience that makes you really feel connected to nature. Despite being as landlocked as it gets, we've got some beautiful waterfront trails in Kansas that are worthy of a visit. One of our favorites is the Prairie Center Nature Reserve Loop at Prairie Center Park in Olathe, KS. This is a beautiful (and easy!) trail that won't take all day and provides some stunning scenery. Check it out:
Prairie Center Park is a sprawling 68-acre park in Olathe, KS that has plenty to entertain the whole family. With a fishing pond, playgrounds, baseball fields, soccer fields, and a disc golf course, there's something for everyone here.
One of our favorite aspects of the park is the 2.4-mile loop trail that encircles the park.
This is a nice, easy trail that's perfect for any season. Visit in the spring and summer and you'll be met with an array of colorful wildflowers.
It takes a little under an hour to explore the entirety of the trail, and since it's a loop, you don't have to worry about turning around to circle back to the parking area.
Keep your eyes peeled: there are all kinds of critters here, too! Deer and rabbits aren't uncommon in the area.
All of the water means you may come across a few bugs, too, so make sure to put on insect repellent and check yourself carefully for ticks afterwards.
This is such a nice, easy stroll with a diverse landscape that makes it quite pleasant to explore during any season!
