The weather seems to be cooling off for good (we hope) which means that it's the perfect time to sneak in some more outdoor time before winter sets in. Some of us might like our trails a little less urban, but the history of this area plus an easy to navigate tunnel trail makes it the perfect adventure for everyone. After all, what's better than a trail that anyone can enjoy?

Welcome to Leavenworth Landing Park, a beautiful and historic area that's the perfect place for a quick hike.

It doesn't feel like a hike, because you're walking through history and inside cool tunnels along the way. It's a great place to bird watch, get some fresh air, and just relax.

The trail itself is a mile long, so if you go all the way through and back, you'll have traveled two miles. Make sure to bring your good shoes!

Not only is it the perfect length, but it's also easy to travel on. It's easily accessible by both feet and wheels, and you can even bring your leashed dog along with you for the adventure. There are also plenty of sitting areas for you to stop along the way and just enjoy the views or have a snack.

The park is rich in transportation themes, celebrating the importance of surface travel in Leavenworth's history. Without local travel, another city would have likely taken the importance away from this one.

Transportation is one of the reasons that this town was so important in the 1850s. Trains, riverboats, wagons, and military roads made Leavenworth an important stop along many paths.

Despite the mile of walking area, there's an amazing view right next to where you walk. The beautiful Missouri river and the Kansas-Missouri border is visible right here from the path.

I'd say this would be a perfect day's adventure, wouldn't you?
