Here in Kansas, there's not too many animals we'd call "exotic" There's also a growing shortage of exotic animals in the world due to deforestation and poaching. Fortunately, we have places where they can live and thrive without that danger, to hopefully populate their habitats again soon. Tired of the local zoo and the same old scene? Right here in Kansas, in a town called Louisburg, there's a bunch of kitties just waiting to be seen.
Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory is a non-profit safe haven for wild cats of all sizes and colors.
In addition to cats, they've also got some canine friends, but their main focus is definitely on felines. (Mine is too, to be honest.)
They have dedicated volunteers who help raise the young cubs and make sure they're healthy and happy.
The cats here even have toys just like our housecats do! It's important for cats of all breeds and sizes to play, and they've got durable toys here just for that very purpose. If only I could get in there and play too!
Plus, who could say no to this little one? What a good hunter! All the cats here are fed as much as they need, but sometimes they like to play with the local wildlife, too.
