The One Kansas Waterfall That Will Completely Take Your Breath Away In Any Season
Cowley State Fishing Lake in Kansas offers a beautiful waterfall and various outdoor activities throughout the year.
Who doesn't like visiting a waterfall? In Kansas, we aren't gifted with waterfalls in many of our parks and trails, but that does make us cherish them even more. No matter what time of year you decide to visit this beautiful Kansas waterfall, make sure you bring your camera because you'll want to save these memories. The best part is coming back each season to see how it's changed!
Welcome to Cowley State Fishing Lake, a beautiful part of Kansas just east of Ark City that's full of things to do and see.
Other than their standard fishing of walleye, crappie, and others, you can enjoy kayaking, hiking, or just relaxing among the nature without going anywhere in particular.
Of course, the waterfall here is the main draw. In the spring and summer, as long as it has rained recently, the waterfall whooshes over the rocks in a well-displayed fall before gathering in a small area and running over the rocks below.
In the fall, all the trees around the rocky outcropping turn orange and red, making the rocks look even brighter.
Of course, in the winter, we're blessed with occasional frozen waterfalls from when we do get moisture during winter. Be careful taking photos, it's probably slick out there!
When you're trying to spend a day or two out of the house, check off Cowley State Fishing Lake on your nature bucket lists and head on over for a relaxing day outdoors.
You'll find Cowley State Fishing Lake along US 166, east of Ark City.
If you're in love with our beautiful natural scenery, you'll love these relaxing Kansas trails perfect for your next day to yourself.
